About me: Jordan

I have big dreams and live the good life. At least once every week, i sit down and i reflect on everything that i am thankful for in life, and i set goals i want to meet and things i want to accomplish. Sounds really inspirational huh? But its damn true. The name is Jordan, and along with my dearest friend and partner in crime, the lovely Miss Anna Grace, we are creating this blog with one simple thought in mind: To make it kick as much ass as possible.
I am currently a Journalism/Communications major at Linn Benton Community College. I am 26, almost 27 and have had one hell of a life. I've had some really good ups, and i have also been to the depths of hell and that experience taught me alot about myself and made me grow up really fast. That was 8 years ago, and with the help of an awesome ladyfriend, an amazing and beautiful daughter, and some of the most kick ass, loyal, and absolutely amazing friends, i have risen to my peak, and i'm just getting started. I am currently part of Alloy Podcast/Productions (www.alloyproductions.com) and co-host of Rip City Podcast (www.ripcitypod.blogspot.com) and I absolutely love my 'effing life. I am one of those dudes that you really just have to hang out with to truly understand. Come do it, i guarantee your in for one wicked ride!

Poop, there it is! (HD)

Describe:This commercial starts off with 3 babies turning around and having what the luvs company wants to call "blowouts" which is pretty much the babies taking huge gigantic dumps and the diapers not leaking or breaking. The commercial presents 3 babies in front of judges turning around and the diapers explode and it gets graded. It is very quick and to the point as most commercials are. This one is under 30 seconds long.

Analyze: This commercial is using the Association principle technique. It’s trying to portray its product to be the best for what it does. In my opinion it is giving more of a myth but i am bias because i have a kid. It uses an example of a popular reality show theme such as American Idol or any of the other numerous talent/crap shows many of us get sucked into watch. I would have to say that it is not the best medium for the message! It also uses hidden-fear appeal, Because we all know its every moms worse night mare to be out in public and have a "blow out". In the commercial it is trying to sell us luv's saying they will hold so much more than other leading brands.

Interpret: Larger campaign I would have to say no not really. It is using a show we all watched at one point or have seen previews for, so I would have to say that it is partially recycling. The target audience is Mom’s and Dad’s alike. They want to catch the attention of anyone with a child so that you will purchase their product (thinking it’s the best). They want you to see that their product is better than other leading brands and they have changed it for better protection. It does give kinda a stereo type. Because parents are that stereo type, you want the parents to know your product is the best out there.

Evaluate: The effectiveness of this commercial is very much so. I could remember it after only seeing it once. The fact that it is babies always help people to remember, but then the fact that they are having a contest to see who can poop the biggest. It’s kind of a gross commercial but really funny and cute at the same time. But I think any commercial with babies really makes for a cute memorable ad. I personally have purchased this product in the past (because it was cheap) and I absolutely hated them! Would have rather had my kid go around naked, would have done just as good…

Engage- When viewing this ad, it's not hard to giggle or frown, or not show any emotions at all. I honestly chuckled and then had to watch it again to get the exact drift of what the commercial was actually trying to present. In my opinion, it does a fantastic job of engaging the viewer and grabbing their attention. Its playing off our fondness of certain reality TV shows and using that to show us that Luv's diapers are the best for this type of problem, which is leakage, blowout, and just plain diaper explosion.

Conclusion: I think that what I learned most from doing this assignment is that there are things that are in the ads or commercials that people are oblivious to noticing. A baby for instance always catches the eye of women. There for they use babies for all kinds of things! They also tried to the popular cliche show to present their message so people would be interested. Did it work? I think absolutely. If you ask many of the mothers, and even a good majority of the fathers that change diapers on a regular basis, they will tell you that one of the worst things about it is when the kids diapers leaks, gets too full and breaks, or just plain crap all over the place. Its horrible, and no parent wants to deal with the mess. This commercial is playing off that and conveying that if we, as parents, buy these diapers, we will have very little, if any, messes to clean up. The diaper I have found to be the best is Safeway's Mom to Mom brand!!! they do wonders!!!!
Luv's even has a facebook page...

South Park Episode:"Make love, not Warcraft"=EPIC

So i am posting this video because of 2 reasons. The first being that this is by far my favorite episode of South Park. I remember laughing so hard thru the whole thing. The second reason is because i HATE, absolutely despise the stupid goddamn game. I watched it take over so many people's lives, and become mindless drones. So enjoy this video, and remember to make love, not warcraft!
